Spanish rider seals title by one point at home circuit

As the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship title fight went down to the wire this weekend in at the Circuito de Jerez, Marc Garcia (Halcourier Racing) secured the title by just one point and was able to reach his dream at the age of 17.

Crossing the line in fourth position, the Spanish rider had done enough to be crowned champion and was left speechless as a result. Bouncing back from some tough races throughout 2017, Garcia was delighted to have taken the title, and looked forward to celebrating with his team.

As of the race itself, the Spanish rider got a terrible start off the line but was soon able to redeem himself. Locked in a battle at the front, the Spanish rider’s fourth position was enough for him to take the title.

“I haven’t words to describe this moment,” begins Garcia. “It’s amazing. We have put in a lot of work this season, we had good races and bad races but finally I have taken the title and I am so happy. I want to say thank you to my team, my family and all my sponsors. I had a really hard battle, all the riders were taking the slipstream, and the last lap is always so so crazy, but finally I got the championship and this is the best feeling. I can’t wait to celebrate with all my team, so thank you to them.”
